What is an RCO?

Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) are independent, non-profit organizations led and run by local recovery communities. They facilitate peer-to-peer recovery support services, community education, and advocacy, serving as a hub for hope and resources. By mobilizing recovery capital, RCOs help individuals and families navigate the complexity of healing and build productive lives free from the impact of substance use.

  • We embrace and promote recovery in individuals, families, and communities

  • We appreciate the interconnectedness of individuals, families, and entire communities

  • We value volunteerism, service, and collaboration

  • We know recovery flourishes in supportive communities

  • We know recovery gives back what addiction has taken away

Our Values

We advocate for those affected by addiction, help people navigate around barriers to recovery, facilitate access to recovery resources, support the community of recovery, provide peer-to-peer recovery support services, educate the community, and participate in the discourse to combat stigma & discrimination.

  • We believe all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect

  • We strive to end discrimination against people in recovery, and those still suffering from the disease of addiction

  • We respect multiple pathways to recovery, because what helps one person in recovery may not work for everyone

  • We encourage building recovery capital, the development of a healthy life style, and the reduction of risk to personal health and safety
